Majors Season Comes to a Close with Loss to Sewanee

SEWANEE, Tenn. – The Millsaps Majors Women's Lacrosse Team wrapped up what has been a successful second season of play with the team going in the right direction as they traveled to the University of the South on Saturday afternoon to take on the Sewanee Tigers. A 12 goal first half by the Tigers was enough for them to hold on as they defeated the Majors 18-8.

Tw two teams exchanged goals for the five minutes as senior Laura Gray and sophomore Haleigh Williams got the scoring started. The Tigers came back with three straight goals before Williams narrowed the gap with her second goal of the game. After another Tiger goal, freshman Kendall Fann got on the board with an assist from sophomore Jamie Blair Page to make it a 7-4 game. However, Sewanee pulled away in the second half with six straight goals and two more to start the second half.

Millsaps did not go down easily as Williams added four goals in the second half, but it was not enough as the Tigers defeated the Majors 18-8.

Williams led the march with six goals on the afternoon while Fann and Gray each added one. Williams also added six groundballs on the afternoon as she ends the year as one of the top goal scorers this season. Freshman Nicholette Hannah had 11 saves on the afternoon.

The Majors end the season at 3-10 and 1-4 in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference, but made huge strides in their second season of play.
